Freshman Ditty tosses 3-inning perfect game in 15-0 win over Benton

FARWELL- Bucktail’s Lady Bucks are starting to get back into playoff contention. The bats and defense continue to improve and freshman pitcher Carrie Ditty only gets better as the season progresses.

Ditty fanned all 9 batters she faced on Wednesday afternoon on her way to her first career perfect game in Bucktail’s quick 15-0 rout of the visiting Lady Tigers of Benton in Mid Penn Conference action.

Bucktail smashed 9 hits and took advantage of 3 Lady Tiger errors in the game.

Benton had troubles in the circle with control. Lola English and Makenna Stone both walked and they were both knocked in on a crushing double from Eva Sockman. Kendall Wagner and Matti Mason both reached base on errors with Mason scoring Sockman.

Wagner and Mason eventually scored on another Benton Miscue to give the Lady Bucks a 5-0 lead after one inning.

Ditty handled Benton in order again in the second inning and the Lady Bucks went back to work in the bottom of the second.

Rebecca Conway began things with a walk and she wwould score on a double from English. Stone collected her second walk of the game. Both English and Stone scored on a Sockman single to give Bucktail an 8-0 lead.

The inning was far from done. Kendall Wagner’s shot to left center scored Sockman and Wagner reached home on a Matti Mason RBI single.Angel Kmetz’s single then scored Mason. A walk from Hayleigh Dent led to Kmetz scoring. The six-run second inning had the Lady Bucks up 11-0.

Ditty once again took care of Benton in order in the top of the third inning.

Sockman shot a laser beam down the third base line that resulted in a triple for her third base knock in as many at bats. Kendall Wagner then walked. Mason reached base on an RBI error to score Sockman. Rebecca Conway’s walk off double scored both Mason and Wagner to force the 15-run mercy rule.

Sockman’s three hits and 4 runs batted in led the Lady Bucks. Lola English collected a pair of doubles. Wagner and Conway both added doubles. Mason and Kmetz each delivered singles, with Mason collecting a pair of RBI’s.

Bucktail is now at 3-3 on the season and has reached .500 for the first time since starting out the season 1-1. Their next contest will be at home Thursday against District 9 foes Oswayo Valley (3-2).
