‘Cats Earn Four PHAC All-Stars, Coach of the Year
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain boys’ basketball was recognized with 4 all-star selections and coach of the year honors by the Pennsylvania Heartland Conference coaches for their efforts in the 2017-18 season.
The Wildcats earned a 12-11 overall record and a 8-2 conference mark under first year head coach, Tyler Bardo. That effort earned CM trips to both the PHAC playoffs as well as the District 6 5A tournament where they offered up very exciting and competitive performances.
Earning first team all-star honors was senior Matt Storeman. Storeman scored 278 points on the year with 90 assists and hitting 79-128 free throws on the year. Storeman also had 68 rebounds and 57 steals.
Colin Jones was recognized as co-MVP of the conference. The junior forward amassed 424 points 32 assists and hit 48-86 from the penalty stripe. Jones picked up 168 rebounds, 63 steals and a whopping 21 blocks on the year.
Trevor Hanna received second team all-star accolades. Hanna dropped in 278 points on his senior season along with 90 assists and hitting 29-38 foul shots. Hanna had 68 boards and 57 steals for Central Mountain.
Isaiah McCann received the distinct honor of All Defensive Player of the year for his hustle and persistence in stifling opponents. McCann had 216 points, 65 assists, 96 rebounds and 35 steals and 4 blocks in his senior season.
Head coach, Tyler Bardo received top honors from his peers for Coach of the Year. Bardo was solid in his inaugural season in keeping his team competitive and ready to play. All the while dealing with hectic scheduling, player injuries, weather delays and tough opponents throughout the schedule.
“I’m proud that we were well represented, Bardo said of the honors his players received, “All four of those guys earned it and I’m glad the conference agreed.”
