Obituary – Harry J. Connor
Harry J. Connor, of Lock Haven, passed away May 27, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He passed peacefully into the arms of God and his loving wife, Elaine Peddigree Connor, who passed away on April 23, 2023. Elaine was waiting for him in heaven with open arms.
Harry was born in Lock Haven on August 15, 1934, to the late Harry and Vivian Yufer Connor.
Harry, a dedicated member of the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1955, followed by a career with Piper Aircraft until its closure. He also worked as a movie projectionist at the Garden & Roxy Theatre in Lock Haven, as well as the Park Drive-In Theater in Mill Hall.
Harry later worked for Lockheed Martin, spanning locations from Marietta, GA, to Columbus, OH, and Baltimore, MD, before returning to Lock Haven. There, he served as a custodian at LHU until retirement, while also contributing his talents to Franack Construction, building homes alongside his brother-in-law, Don Vonada.
A skilled repairman of tube televisions, Harry was equally devoted to his family, ensuring memorable vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey and annual trips to the Ice Capades in Hershey. Roller skating, which led him to his beloved wife Elaine, became a cherished tradition for their family.
After retirement, Harry and Elaine enjoyed breakfast outings at the Texas, savoring each moment together.
Harry was a big Notre Dame fan, watching Notre Dame football every Saturday.
A devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, Harry also dedicated many years to the Saint Agnes Fair, leaving a lasting impact on his community.
Harry is survived by his children, Belinda (John) Dworak, Pamela Bowes, Teresa (David) Hettich, Tina (John) Myers, Mary (Calvin) Winner & Harry (Janie) Connor; his grandchildren, Chelsey Garey, Christina Egan, Jacqueline Plessinger, Jessika Lewis, Mellissa Hettich, Nicole Hettich, Jennifer Raymond, Matt Winner, Michael Connor, Michelle Fahsbender, Brandon Han Li and Hailie Breauchy.; and great-grandchildren, Madison Schaefer, Alex Schaefer, Mason Garey, Lincoln Garey, Andrew Egan, Aidan Connor, Gabrielle Connor, Liam Connor, Scarlett Campbell, Leann Campbell, Cameron Raymond, Maddox Raymond, Eli Raymond, Molly Winner and Max Winner. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Vonada; and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents and wife, Harry was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Eddie Montarsi; brother-in-law, Don Vonada; and son-in-law, Gerald (Jerry) Bowes.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 12 P.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 East Walnut Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745, with Deacon Chip Young officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Lock Haven.
Family and friends will be received for a time of viewing on Friday from 10 to 11:30 A.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington, PA 17745.
Memorial contributions in Harry’s name may be made through the funeral home to the Piper Museum or Clinton County Veterans.
