Neumann outlasts Sugar Valley 11-2

WILLIAMSPORT- Two Mid Penn Conference squads met in Williamsport on Monday night. Both St. John Neumann and Sugar Valley have been eliminated from postseason play, but they would put forth the effort.
Chase Wright would go 3 for 3 and the hometown Knights would score 7 runs in the bottom of the second inning to down the Phoenix 11-2.
Neumann started the game with a lone run in their half of the first before their big second inning would give them an 8-0 lead.
Sugar Valley would cross single runs in both the third inning and fourth inning to shrink the Knights lead to 8-2.
St. John Neumann would score again in the bottom of the fourth inning and a pair of fifth inning runs to set the final.
Sugar Valley would collect 5 hits, but couldn’t recover from the eight walks allowed.
Lance Winchester led the Phoenix with a pair of hits, both doubles. Lincoln Breon, Gage Lucas and Layden Bryan all had singles in the loss.
Sugar Valley (2-15) will close out their season tomorrow at Shamokin.
