Obituary – Jane Alyce Coffey
Jane Alyce Coffey, 86, passed away on January 27, 2024 at UPMC- Williamsport. She was born on March 26, 1937 in Windber, PA, the daughter of Gerald M. and Ruth Fagan Douglass. Jane attended Windber schools until 1953 when the family relocated to Flemington. She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1955, and from Lock Haven State Teachers College in 1967. She taught in the Bald Eagle Nittany School District at the Lamar Twp. Elementary School until 1976, and then, in the Keystone Central School District at Robb Elementary until her retirement in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerald T. (Tom) Douglass, and a grandson, Ryan Coffey.
Surviving are sons: David M. (Deborah) Coffey of State College, Douglas S. (Betsy) Coffey of Woolrich and Robert L. (Patsy VanDyke) Coffey of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Derek (Kalyn) Coffey of Mifflinburg and Lauren (Tyler) Troup of Mt. Pleasant Mills; two step-grandchildren, Brittany Frost and Tiffany Schwartz; and three great grandchildren: Grace Troup, Blaire Coffey and Laine Coffey.
Jane was a member of PSEA-NEA-R, the PA Association of School Retirees (PASR) where she served as treasurer, and the Clinton County Historical Society. She was a former member of the Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International where she served as Recording Secretary and President, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club, Mill Hall. She was Methodist and served as organist at various times at the Flemington, Mill Hall and Castanea United Methodist Churches.
A Memorial Service will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Richland Twp. Cemetery, Cambria County.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the donor’s church or favorite charity.
