CM’s McCloy Jumps to Second Place Finish at States
SHIPPENSBURG – Central Mountain junior high jumper Amelia McCloy did it again! She set a new personal and school best on Saturday in clearing 5-8 at the PIAA state championships at Seth Grove Stadium at Shippensburg University. McCloy’s showing earned her a second place finish after finishing fifth in the state as a sophomore.
McCloy had set a Central Mountain and personal best of 5-7 at the Lock Haven University High School Classic in April. Her showing at states was second only to Lydia Bottelier, a senior from Palisades High School, who set a new PIAA record at 5-11 ½.
McCloy went out at 5-9 but said she was elated with her showing. Her silver medal finish earned eight points and put Central Mountain in 29th place at the state event. McCloy was the only Central Mountain qualifier for states.
