Central Mountain opened the game with energy, leading 15-7 after the first quarter. Noah Wells led the charge for the Wildcats, scoring 22 points and hitting two three-pointers. Hunter Hoy added 13 points, including five from the free-throw line, as Central Mountain showed promise early on.
Shamokin, however, found their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Central Mountain 25-10. Joe Hile fueled Shamokin’s surge with a game-high 17 points, while Xzavier Baker chipped in 14 points, including a three-pointer. By halftime, Shamokin had erased their early deficit and built a commanding lead, 32-25.
Despite the Wildcats’ efforts to rally in the second half, Shamokin’s balanced attack proved too much. Jenssyn Shuey’s 11 points and Logan Steele’s inside presence helped Shamokin control the paint. The visiting Indians scored 20 points in the third quarter and cruised to the finish with a 17-point fourth.
Central Mountain struggled to regain their early momentum, managing just 13 points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth. Caleb Mahoney added four points, while Max Verrelli contributed three from the free-throw line.
The Wildcats fell to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while Shamokin improved to 9-2 and 1-0 in HAC-I action. The Wildcats will next be in action Wednesday hosting Jersey Shore.
