Lock Haven Police Warn of Scam

LOCK HAVEN – City police Friday said they learned of a local scam attempt. They sent out this message on social media:

On 3/9/18, LHPD spoke with employee of a local business. This employee received an email that was believed to be internal from her boss. The request seemed peculiar but the employee still followed up with it, until the “boss” requested $3,000 from the employee’s personal account. The employee then called her boss and learned that it was an attempted scam. The scammer initially tried to get $10,000 via a bank wire transfer. We urge all that if you get such requests, verify the information thoroughly, in person or a phone call, so that you do not become a victim.
