Varsity Softball beats Danville Area 10 – 3
DANVILLE-The Wildcats traveled to Danville for the second time in ten days to finish a rain delayed game against the Ironmen. The game started on Saturday, April 30th and was stopped in the top of the third inning due to rain.
Neither team scored in the first inning but as the skies darkened the Wildcat bats heated up and they started the top of the second inning with consecutive base hits by Taylor Wahlers, Cora Myers, Ava Doyle and Taylor Doyle. Madisyn Wian added a fifth base hit later in the inning and Central Mountain plated three runs. Danville answered in the bottom of the second inning with three hits of their own as they pushed across two runs to set the score at 3-2 at the end of two innings.
As the dark clouds moved closer, Madison Hardy lead off the third inning with a double to left field and scored on a Taylors Wahlers single to right field. Two batters latter Ava Doyle reached on a perfect bunt single allowing Wahlers to score and push the score to 5-2. At that point, lightening and rain moved in and the game was halted.
Ten days later when the game resumed, Danville was held scoreless until they were able to score a run in the bottom of the seventh but the Wildcats tacked on five more runs, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.
The Wildcats eighteen hit barage was highlights by a Cora Myers two run home run in the seventh and three hit performances by Madisyn Wian and Taylor Wahlers. Harley Kunes, Katelyn Bowman, Myers, Ava Doyle and Taylor Doyle each had two hits while Cirstyn Watson and Madison Hardy had one each.
