LH Hospital Says Patient Checked for Ebola

Upon Evaluation, Patient Has No Risk Factors

LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven Hospital today released a statement about a check of a patient “exhibiting some of the symptoms … consistent with those attributed to Ebola.” After an evaluation, the hospital said via a news release, it was determined the patient, who was not identified, does not have any risk factors for Ebola.

The complete hospital release:

This afternoon, Lock Haven Hospital received a patient that was transported to our hospital by Lock Haven EMS. The patient was exhibiting some of the symptoms that are consistent with those attributed to Ebola. Our hospital worked in conjunction with a Pennsylvania Department of Health infectious disease specialist to conduct a careful and thorough evaluation of the patient’s condition and it has been determined that the patient does not have any risk factors for Ebola and has not been exposed to Ebola. Our Emergency Room was alerted in advance of the patient’s arrival and immediately implemented appropriate infection control protocols to protect our staff and other patients.

“I was pleased with the professional response and teamwork between the emergency services crew and our staff following all appropriate isolation protocols,” said Steven Davis, chief executive officer, Lock Haven Hospital. “While this patient is not at risk for Ebola, it is good to know that we are prepared in the remote possibility that an actual event would occur.”
