lh-sealLOCK HAVEN — Mayor Bill Baney and council member Rick Conklin used the occasion of tonight’s city council meeting to announce the band schedule for Lock Haven’s annual free Summer Concert Series.

A total of 24 concerts will be staged, 13 on Friday nights at Triangle Park and 11 along the Susquehanna River at the Corman Amphitheater. For the first time in the program’s 18 year history, Baney noted, the riverside concerts will be held on two different nights: June and July on Sundays as in the past, the hours from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The concerts will be held on Saturdays in August and the performance time moved to 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. as daylight grows shorter, he said.

The schedule includes the first “Mayor’s Concert,” Baney fulfilling a campaign pledge to fund a portion of the summer concert schedule. He selected the July 31 appearance of The Reagan Years, an 80’s tribute band, for that event. He noted the Maryland-based group includes Clinton County native Cy Seyler who had expressed an interest in returning home to perform. Baney said he was “excited” about the 2016 offerings. He said the floating stage offerings will see five new groups this summer.

Conklin, along with Baney members of the summer concert series committee, detailed the schedule for the Triangle Park Friday night concerts. The Friday dates will kick off the 2016 schedule on June 3 with Biscuit Jam. Other favorites returning to the downtown location, Conklin said, include The Lindy Sisters and the Deacons of Dixieland.
