MILL HALL, PA – In a Thursday night battle between two evenly matched teams, Central Mountain, after taking the first set (25-22), found themselves down 2-1 against a determined North Penn team. The Lady Mounties had won the second and third sets (25-14) and (25-22), then pushed the Lady Wildcats to the limits in the fourth set before bowing in overtime, 28-26. It was do-or-die for the locals. They came through in nail-biting fashion.
In the fifth and deciding game, Central Mountain finally found their stride slamming the door with a 15-5 decisive win.
While playing much better in the final two sets, the home team was sparked by the play of Keely Rohrbach. Number 9 stepped up her game at the net both scoring and defending. Also playing well in the ninth win for Coach Chipp McCann were Sophia Hardy and Reese Walizer.
Central Mountain (9-1) will travel to Bellefonte (2-2) on Monday.
The lone loss for the Lady ‘Cats was to currently undefeated Bald Eagle Area (5-0).
With tense play as they exhibited Thursday night, they are sure to give Coach McCann a little gray hair.
