Miss Christina Smith named 2023 Clinton County Fair Queen
MACKEYVILLE, PA- Before a packed main stage crowd Saturday afternoon the Clinton County Fair Queen Contest was held. The contest saw many visiting queens from other fairs and other royalty in attendance. PA Fair Queen Miss Chloe Bomgardner served as the MC of the contest.
Contestants had to submit a writing piece and were interviewed by judges earlier in the day. During the ceremony contestants were introduced in formal gowns and had to give a speech on “Why come to my fair?” After each contestant spoke, they cleared the stage and brought one contestant out at a time for the impromptu question. The question was created by judges. This year’s question was “There are many misconceptions in the agriculture industry, pick one and explain how you would help change that?”
Once all the contestants answered the questions the fair queen committee held a live auction of baskets and gifts while the judges made their final points tabulation. Gary Thull was the volunteer auctioneer.
Past Queens in attendance were introduced and they discussed their favorite memory from being the fair queen.
Next, Miss Miller the 2022 Fair Queen gave a warm thank you and sign of speech. She highlighted the many events and fairs she covered during her reign. Also, she highlighted speaking at the elementary schools in the area to help educate the kids about agriculture and how they could be a part of the fair.
