Mill Hall Heritage Days planned for July 1, 2

By Christopher Miller

MILL HALL, PA – The first ever Mill Hall Borough Heritage Days Celebration is set for this weekend, July 1 and 2 at the Mill Hall Community Park.

The entire community is invited to come on out for the 2-day event featuring food and craft vendors, live entertainment, local business promotions, extended swim hours at the Mill Hall Community Pool, and finishing the evening off with fireworks on Saturday night.

“The goal is to bring the community back to Mill Hall,” event organizer Michelle Kunes told The Record. “I feel like people forget we are here, and with the pool being renovated and improved in the next couple of years, it’s important to get the people back and excited.”

Some readers of The Record might recall a time when there used to be a Mill Hall Carnival.

“The more seasoned generation involved in the event planning remembers the old carnivals they had here and are excited that we want to bring something of a carnival-type atmosphere back,” said Kunes.

Local artist Craig Brady will be on hand over the weekend creating an original chainsaw carving that will grace the park.

“We had to have a tree cut down in the park, so we asked Craig if he would come out and do a chainsaw carving out of that same tree to put back into the park,” said Kunes.

The celebration weekend will also coincide with the Colonel Henry M. Bossert Memorial Bridge Dedication Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at the bridge on PA Route 150 over Bald Eagle Creek on Sunday at 3 PM.

Live entertainment on Saturday will be provided by Big Daddy Bangers from 5 to 8 PM with fireworks to follow around 9 PM The Sugar Valley Band will play in the park on Sunday from 5 to 6 PM.

There will be plenty of food available to purchase from vendors such as Scott’s Roasting, Snyder’s Pizza/Fries/Chicken-on-a-stick and funnel cakes, Roger’s Lemonade, and Miller’s Italian Ice and Caramel Popcorn.

The community pool will be open for extended “night swim” hours on Saturday night, and there will be a two-hour window for free swim on Sunday. More details can be found on the Mill Hall Pool Facebook page.

We have a lot planned to be going on and it will be an exciting time to be in Mill Hall.”

All profits and proceeds benefit the Mill Hall Borough Community Pool & Park Restoration.
