Durty Dabbers hosting 550 motorcyclists

CASTANEA TOWNSHIP, PA – “100 Miles of Bad Roads” is how the Durty Dabbers proclaims its 32nd annual Great Adventure National Dual sport motorcycle event staged Saturday and Sunday in Clinton County,

Some 550 motorcyclists are participating in this weekend’s National Dual Sport ride hosted by the Durty Dabbers Motorcycle Club. Riders took off around 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday will see a 9 a.m. start, all from the Castanea Fire Company Picnic Grounds. The 100-mile course charts a path through Sproul, Tiadaghton and Bald Eagle State Forests, as well as some local roads.

The course is 100 miles each day through the mountains to the north and east on Saturday and to the north and west on Sunday. Per the Durty Dabbers posted information, the majority of the course is on dirt trails and roads.

Only a very limited portion of the course will be on hard top roads. Also, there is a new course for heavyweight adventure bikes.

How difficult is the course?
The main course is designed for the typical dual sport bikes such as the DRZ 400 or the Honda XR series along with any standard enduro type bike.

Riding ability is intended for the average dual sport rider. The alternate course is more difficult and is intended for the true enduro rider where KTM EXC may be more appropriate.

The adventure bike course is intended for the larger bikes such as the BMW GS series, Suzuki V-Strom or KTM Adventure bikes. This course is less single track and more of a scenic nature ride.

(NEW) Why No GPS for Main Course? We feel through past experience that a good part of the fun of the main course is the ability to navigate the course using a map/roll chart and is more challenging and adventurous. GPS coordinates, however, will be available on the roll chart for the fuel stops, snack stops and any other key areas in the event you should get lost.
