It’s Car Show Time!
Student's Senior Project benefits Wayne Township Recreation Committee
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Big blocks, tail fins, and all-American muscle. One Central Mountain High School student’s Senior Project combines classic cars with the spirit of giving.
“This car show is my senior project, and it wasn’t that hard to organize,” said student Ryan Strouse. “Since my dad and I got a truck finished we went to car shows in Mill Hall and joined the Central PA Street Machines, so I messaged the guy in charge, Chris Donovan, and he said I can do this for my project.”
The finished truck that Ryan refers to is a 1978 Ford F-150. “I have my own ‘78 F-150 that we are working on right now with a 460 big block we’re going to drop into it,” Ryan said. “We paid $600 for it and it ran, but it definitely wasn’t safe for the road when I first got it.”
The project, Ryan described, is to assist in running the show happening this weekend in McElhattan and fundraising for the Wayne Township Recreation Committee.
“I will be helping to run the show this weekend, so I will go around collecting money for 50/50 tickets, chance tickets for prizes for things donated from local businesses to give away, and some raffle tickets, with all monies going to the Recreation Committee,” Ryan explained.
The high school Senior Project is the culmination of a student’s years of academic achievements, combining at least 20 hours of community service, a project proposal, a presentation of the entire project when complete, and a one-to-three page report on what was learned and how it helped the student grow.
The weather report for Saturday currently says clouds and sun with a high temperature in the mid-70s. “Let’s hope it stays that way,” Ryan exclaimed.
