Lady Wildcats win streak hits six
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Central Mountain varsity softball team on Thursday avenged an early season loss to Williamsport with a 7-3 victory at Elm Park.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the first and second innings to stake themselves to a 4-0 lead. But as they had done in the earlier matchup, Williamsport scratched their way back into the game, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second on one hit. It would prove to be the only hit for Williamsport on the evening. After two complete innings Central Mountain led 4-3.
There was no further scoring until Central Mountain added two runs in the top of the fifth and one run in the top of the sixth inning to bring the final score to 7-3.
The Wildcats collected 11 hits on the evening including a solo home run by Katelyn Bowman in the second inning and a solo home run by Madison Hardy in the sixth inning. Madisyn Wian, Allison Lininger, Sophie Mitchell and Taylor Wahlers each had two hits while Bowman, Hardy and Harley Kunes had one each.
In the circle, Adalynn McKeague pitched the complete 7 inning game facing 25 batters, allowing 3 runs (0 earned) on 1 hit with 3 walks and 12 strike outs.
