PHOENIX RALLY FALLS SHORT FALL 42-29
By Joseph Walker
LOGANTON – Four forfeits were just too much for the Sugar Valley Rural Charter to overcome, as the Phoenix dropped a 42-29 dual meet to Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Wednesday night at the Phoenix gym.
The Phoenix fell behind 18-0 after the first three bouts, as they forfeited two of those weights and then surrendered a fall, but they rallied back and cut the CMVT lead to a 30-29 score after 189 pounds. They then were forced to forfeit the final two weights to set the final at 42-29.
The Phoenix trio of Tobias Conoway (133), Grayson Hastings (160) and Logan Leland (189) all recorded wins by fall and Wyatt Conoway added six more points with a forfeit win. Ethan Bartenope (172) added a win by tech fall to round out the winners for the Green and White.
The Phoenix, now 3-5 on the season, are off until the new year, as they will travel to South Williamsport on Jan 3rd, 2026 for the Mountaineer Invitational tournament. The 12-teams field consists of Allentown Central Catholic, Bloomsburg, Lackawanna Trail, Loyalsock, Montrose, Muncy, Northeast Bradford, Scranton Prep, Valley View, Wellsboro, the host South Williamsport and of course the Phoenix.
