David Lee Mitchell, Sr – Obituary

ObitArtDavid Lee Mitchell, Sr., 70, of Telephone Lane, Beech Creek, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born in Olean, NY on June 20, 1944, the son of the late Ada Kathryn Andrews Haagen.

Dave was a 1962 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School.

On February 16, 1963 at the Flemington Church of Christ, he married the former Linda Aber, who survives.

Dave worked at the Lock Haven Silk Mill and Woolrich Woolen Mills before working many years as an Electrician for Hammermill Paper Company and then Hanna Electric until his retirement.

Dave enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid sports fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and was often found at local sporting events, especially events his grandchildren were participating in. Most of all, Dave loved the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step-father, Joseph Haagen of Beech Creek; three daughters, Dori K. (D. Scott) Doty of Benton, Jamie (Mike) Brouse of Montoursville and Amy (John) Breon of Lock Haven; a son, David Lee (Niki) Mitchell, Jr. of Mill Hall; three brothers, Wayne (Mary) Mitchell, Jay (Linda) Haagen and Daniel (Carol) Haagen, all of Beech Creek; eight grandchildren, Courtney Doty, Tessa, Sadie and Landon Breon, Jennie Brouse and Chloe, Sophie and Eva Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745 with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home Saturday from noon until the time of the service.
