Obituary -Christine E. “Chris” Garbrick
Christine E. “Chris” Garbrick, 58, of Salona, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025 at UPMC Williamsport surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Larry J. Garbrick.
Born June 15, 1966, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of Carl G. Brungard, Sr. and Catherine E. Brungard (Duck).
After earning her cosmetology license, Chris’ passion for beauty and care for others shone brightly through her work as a business partner and co-owner of The Beauty Shoppe. Chris’ creative spirit was a beacon of inspiration to all who knew her. Her artistic talents were as multifaceted as her personality, from painting canvases to crafting stained-glass pieces, each work a testament to her meticulous craftsmanship and eye for beauty.
She became an ordained officiant, bringing joy and a personal touch to the wedding ceremonies she performed. Her adventures took her on wine trips and on cruises that she cherished, creating lasting memories with her family. She had a love for classic automobiles, a passion she celebrated by attending car shows and cruising in her beloved Dune Buggy.
Her generosity of spirit was as natural to her as breathing, and it defined her as a great person in the hearts of all who knew her. Chris’ last act of service was becoming an organ donor, extending the gift of life to those in need.
Family was the cornerstone of Chris’ life, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her granddaughter. Their moments together were filled with love, laughter, and the special bond that only a Meme and her granddaughter can share. These precious times were the highlights of Chris’ days, filled with activities and adventures that will be treasured memories for years to come.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is survived by a son, Joseph R. Garbrick; a grand-daughter, Addison Garbrick; two siblings, Calvin Brungard (Sue), Charles “Chuck” Brungard (Julie), a sister, Cindy Brungard; a brother-in-law, David Garbrick (Jackie); Shawn Packer and Robert Johnson who were like children; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends and coworkers; as well as her two beloved cats, Vinny and Kirby.
Chris was predeceased by a brother, Carl G. Brungard, Jr; her mother and father-in-law, Richard and Anna Mae Garbrick; as well as both maternal and paternal grandparents.
A funeral service to honor Chris’ life will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 5 PM at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Lock Haven, PA, 17745. A viewing will be held from 3 PM until the time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Private family interment will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Chris’ name to Pink Fund, an organization that provides financial assistance to those receiving treatment for breast cancer, though the funeral home.
