Keystone Juniors, US runners-up, return home

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Their summertime odyssey over, the Keystone Junior Little League team returned to Clinton County Monday afternoon, welcomed back by a multitude of friends and family at the WalMart parking lot.

They returned as the USA second place team at the Junior Little League World Series held in Taylor, Michigan. Keystone fell in the USA title game to Corpus Christi, Texas. (Corpus Christi lost to Chinese Taipai in the Sunday world championship game, 7-1; the Keystone team had remained in Michigan to observe that game).

For Keystone the road was a long one, beginning in mid-July at a sectional tournament in Wellsboro, then the state tourney in DuBois, then on to Freehold, NJ for the Eastern tournament, then off to Michigan for the World Series. The Michigan experience covered nearly 12 days.

Rich Lyons, Keystone Little League President, said plans are being formulated to recognize the team on its outstanding season; these are likely to include a trip to the Little League World Series now ongoing in nearby South Williamsport.
