Local Veteran Honored for WWII Service

wpid8367-lehman-mayor-141111.jpgLOCK HAVEN – Veterans Day was extra special for Susque-View Home resident Howard Lehman. The Jersey Shore native received long overdue recognition for his service in the Pacific Theater in World War II. Lehman, now 94, received 10 medals in all, including the Bronze Star Medal. He had never received his medals until now, despite four years of Army Infantry service where he was a platoon sergeant. Lehman called the recognition, “Great day in the world, in my life.” Virtually everyone in the Susque-View atrium was reduced to tears at the ceremony including Lehman and Lock Haven Mayor Rick Vilello, above, who lauded Lehman and shared the pride he had in his late father for his service in World War II.
