First Mike Rendos Award winners announced: Reese Doyle, Micah Walizer
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Two graduating Central Mountain seniors were feted at a Wednesday luncheon in Lock Haven after they were named as the initial winners of a new Central Mountain award honoring longtime local school district official and PIAA referee Mike Rendos.
Those selected are Reese Doyle and Micah Walizer. Their families, along with Mike Rendos, his wife Barbara and son Mike were part of the special recognition. Also participating were Keystone Central School District Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin and Central Mountain High School athletic director Stephen Hafele.
The athletic director developed the award; a plaque with the names of the recipients will be placed at the school to recognize the annual winners.
Rendos said he “was truly humbled to have my name associated with such outstanding young students.”
Hafele said the new award is for achieving academic excellence (GPA of 3.5 or higher) while participating in any Central Mountain High School co-curricular activity during the 2021-2022 school year. This student-athlete should be someone that is a leader on and off the playing surface. They should be an individual that dedicates time to help the community, as well as an upstanding individual in the school. Recipients are selected by the athletic committee and honored at graduation.
