Nels H. Ekdahl Jr – Obituary

OXFORD – Nels H. Ekdahl Jr. (“Pap”, “Uncle Sonny”) 85, of Oxford, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Beloved father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed. 

Nels was born in Renovo, PA on January 29, 1929 to the late Nels H. Ekdahl Sr. and Florence B. (Rathmell) Ekdahl. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ekdahl was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Stephen G. Daverio. 

He is survived by his three children; Nancy (Ekdahl) Daverio of Avondale, Pa. Kurt Ekdahl and wife Patty of Lincoln University, PA and Robyn Ekdahl of Wilmington, DE; Grandchildren; Lauren Harlow, Kelly Ekdahl, Evan Daverio, Emily Ekdahl, Julian St. Bernard, Devon St. Bernard and Cameron St. Bernard;  two siblings; Ida Mae Dremel, Judy Thomas and many nieces and nephews.

Nels was retired from the Dupont Experimental Station in Wilmington,DE. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, music, shuffleboard and fishing. He was an avid football fan and an active member and volunteer at the Oxford Senior Center. Mr. Ekdahl was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the VFW, a member of the Renovo Freemason’s Lodge and of the Oxford Freemason’s Lodge.

A gathering for family and many friends to remember Mr. Ekdahl, will be held on November 16, 2014 from 1- 4 at the Oxford Senior Center at 12 E. Locust Street, Oxford, PA 19363.
