CM softball finishes regular season 18-2; plays for D-6 title May 25
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – In the final regular season game of the 2022 season, the Lady Wildcats defeated the Midd-West Mustangs by a score of 11-4. In a Saturday game that was briefly delayed due to the high field temperatures, the Lady ‘Cats kept their cool and collected 11 hits in the game with Caitlyn Watson, Allison Lininger and Harley Kunes getting two each and Madisyn Wian, Madison Hardy, Katelyn Bowman, Kelsey Burrows and Audrey Walker each adding one hit. Watson collected her 4th homerun of the season while Kunes scored on a triple and an error.
Allison Lininger went the distance in the circle and she faced 29 batters while allowing 7 hits and picking up 9 strikeouts and 4 walks.
The Lady ‘Cats closed out the regular season with a record of 18-2 and clinching the Heartland conference title in the process. They head into District 6 Class 5A playoffs as the #1 seed and will take on Bellefonte at St. Francis University in Loretto on Wednesday, May 25. CM and Bellefonte (12-7) met in the regular season, the Lady ‘Cats with an 8-7 road win. Bellefonte advanced to the district title game with a 2-1 win over Hollidaysburg on Thursday.
