Clinton County primary election update: GOP expands margin over Democrats, mail-in ballots draw interest
LOCK HAVEN—Clinton County voter registrar Maria Boileau used Monday’s county commissioners work session to provide an update leading to the May 17 primary election in Pennsylvania.
Among the information she shared: the latest registration numbers show 21,810 registered; of those, 11,854 are Republicans, 7,118 Democrats, 2,697 others, 115 Libertarians and 26 in the Green Party.
As there are no referendum questions on the ballot at this time, she said, only Republicans and Democrats will be able to vote in the primary.
Boileau said so far her office has received 859 applications for mail-in or absentee ballots. The deadline for such requests is May 10 and they must be returned to the county’s Piper Building no later than 8 p.m. on May 17. She said applications can be found at the county and state websites.
A sample ballot should be available on the county website by mid-April, Boileau said.
Offices on the ballot will include US Senate, governor, lieutenant governor, 15th district Congress, state house and senate and Democratic and Republican committeemen at the state and county levels. Candidates seeking office have until March 15 to return their petitions to Boileau’s office in the Piper Building.
