WAGNER ADVANCES INTO GIRLS STATE SEMIFINALS

By Joe Walker

HERSHEY – Kendall Wagner will be a state place winner for the third straight season, as the Central Mountain Lady Wildcat junior advanced into the PIAA Girls State Wrestling Championships at the Hershey Giant Center.

Wagner, now 27-7, advanced into the semifinals with a solid 5-0 decision over Southeast regional fourth place finisher Alisa Williams (33-8) of Panther Valley. After a scoreless first period, Wagner rode Williams the entire second period and then in the third period she escaped, received a penalty point for Williams stalling and then recorded a takedown with 18 seconds to go to secure the win.

Wagner, a Bucktail junior, can now not finish less than sixth place and will make the podium on Saturday night for the third time, just a matter now of what spot on it she will be.

In the semifinals she will face Southeast regional champion Bryce Snyder (31-4) of Palisades, who won by a fall over Western regional runner-up Octavia Walker (28-8) of Norwin.

Semifinals for the girls and both divisions of the boys are slated for tonight at 7 pm.
