More ARP funding pending in Clinton County

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton County Commissioners on Thursday announced the first community recipients of American Rescue Plan funding, but the county is not done yet.

As explained by county Chief Clerk Jann Meyers, there will be another round of ARP dollars for distribution sometime after the next allotment of the federal funding arrives this spring. She said the grants announced Thursday came after the recipients had submitted requests through the county grant application program, Amplifund.

Meyers said the commissioners with help from the county planning department evaluated the applications. For the first round, they moved to make the approvals, mainly for recreation projects. She said there were also many applications for sewer and water projects; those are still under consideration.

The chief clerk told therecord-online, “Since the ARP money comes in two allocations, one last March, and the other this spring, and because the commissioners have four years to use the funding, they are trying to make the best decisions for its use. The county itself can make use of the funding for county needs as well, as long as they meet the eligible criteria. Recent changes announced to the ARP program have given them a greater flexibility in how it can be used.”

The commissioners Thursday announced better than $270,000 in allocations for a variety of projects across the county.
