Garbrick Harris, Turchetta inducted into Central Mountain Sports Hall of Fame

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The halftime at Monday night’s Central Mountain boys’ basketball game saw a special ceremony: induction of the two newest inductees into the Central Mountain Sports Hall of Fame. They are former Wildcat standout athlete Johnna Garbrick Harris and longtime Central Mountain coach, athletic director and principal Steve Turchetta.

Johnna was the first Central Mountain athlete to earn 12 varsity letters and has been girls’ assistant soccer coach since 2017. She played college soccer at Lebanon Valley, playing in every game during her 4-year tenure and was an all-conference MAC player her senior year; described  as not only a great leader on the field but in the classroom as well.

Garbrick Harris’s awards included in soccer: 2010 varsity attacking award; 2012 senior excellence award; in basketball: the Skip Confer Memorial Award; in softball: 2013 conference and all-state recognition, 2011 offensive player of the year.

Steve Turchetta was described as “a well known figure within Central mountain High School family, having served as a student facilitator, athletic director, assistant principal and supervising principal. Additionally Mr. Turchetta was a very successful coach, leading both the Wildcat basketball and football programs.”

“Mr. Turchetta is held in the highest esteem and respect by those students, athletes and teachers who were fortunate to have crossed his path at Central Mountain High School. His goal was always to provide what was the absolute best for students at faculty of CMHS.”
