Central Mountain Softball beats Dubois Area Senior 5 – 1
DUBOIS-The Central Mountain Varsity softball team bounced back after a tough 3-4 loss on Thursday to beat Dubois 5-1 on Friday evening at Dubois.
The Lady Cats struck in the first inning on a lead off single by Cirstyn Watson who scored two batters later on hard single by Harley Kunes. Central Mountain would score their second run of the contest in the top of the fourth inning when Madison Hardy earned a walk, was advanced on another single by Harley Kunes and scored on a single by Taylor Wahlers. Dubois answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning but it would be the only run Dubois would score.
The Wildcats added three insurance runs in the top of the fifth on base hits by Watson, Kunes and Madisyn Wian and a walk by Katelyn Bowman. There was no further scoring in the game.
Freshman Camdyn Weaver pitched the complete game for Central Mountain and earned her second win of the season. She faced 28 batters and gave up one run. She allowed eight scattered hits while recording five strike outs, one walk and one hit by pitch.
Central Mountain was to host Troy for a Saturday game but that has been again postponed.
