Lock Haven intersection suspended signal light: the answer is go
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven City Council at its meeting Monday night voted to do away with a suspended flashing traffic signal at W. Main and 1st Streets.
Council unanimously voted to have city staff put together an ordinance to amend the city’s code vehicle & traffic chapter to remove the 4-way flashing light from the intersection. The earliest the ordinance would come before council would be Nov. 1, and then it would be advertised, and a public hearing held the next week on Nov. 8. City Manager Greg Wilson said residents would be welcome to provide feedback anytime up until the time of adoption.
Indications were even if adopted, with the holiday season approaching, it likely wouldn’t be removed until early next year.
The city has been notified by PPL last month that the meter base for the suspended light is badly deteriorated and may need replaced. In the meantime the city had obtained a quote of $4,620 for repairs.
The intersection also has the traditional ground-based stop signs at all four corners.
