Smethport dampens special night in Farwell

FARWELL, PA – The Smethport Hubbers came to Dwyer Memorial Field Friday night and showed why they are one of the top small schools in District 9. While the host Bucktail Bucks hung with Smethport through the first period, down 7-0, the Hubbers put up 27 in period two on the way to a 34-0 halftime lead, ending up with a 40-0 triumph.

Highly touted Hubber quarterback Noah Lent lived up to his billing and the Smethport defense never allowed the Buck offense to get untracked.

The night at Dwyer Field was highlighted by a well received pregame Military Appreciation observance and Senior Night recognition was held at halftime.

Smethport moves to 4-0 with the win, the Bucks fall to 0-3. It won’t get any easier for Coach Jared Hurlbert’s team, scheduled to travel to Knox next Friday night to take on 3-0 Keystone. The Keystone team had its Friday night game at Cameron County cancelled, as were games between Coudersport and Brockway and Port Allegany at Elk County Catholic.
