Keystone 11s fall to Selinsgrove, 8-7
CRESSONA, PA – The Keystone 11 Little League team was edged by an 8-7 score by Selinsgrove on Saturday at the Section 3 tournament being held in Cressona. The loss drops the Keystone team in to the loser’s bracket.
Keystone stayed in it until the end, the game tied at seven into the bottom of the fifth when Selinsgrove scored one run to move ahead and shut out Keystone in the top of the sixth for the win.
Keystone lost despite outhitting Selinsgrove ten to seven.
Joey Miller led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Keystone; he went one and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out four. Bauman and Brody Swanger entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively. They combined for 10 strikeouts and issued two walks.
Keystone Little League totaled ten hits in the game. Swanger, Jaiden McCloskey and Tucker Brungart each racked up multiple hits for Keystone, Brungart with a double; Swanger with a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Kyle Everett had a double, Alex Johnson and Jake Meyers with singles.
Keystone committed four errors and all eight Selinsgrove runs were unearned.
The loss drops to Keystone to 1-1 in the double-elimination tournament. They had defeated Ashland, 8-3, on Friday.
