Latest KCSD COVID update: community spread ebbs in Clinton, Centre; cases within district drop

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – While COVID-19 cases across the area have been increasing recently, the latest update from Keystone Central School District Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin shows a drop in active cases within the school district community.

The superintendent’s Friday report to the community:

 April 23, 2021

 KCSD Staff and Community,

Positive cases in our area and across Pennsylvania have been increasing in recent weeks.  Currently in KCSD there is only one active case of Covid-19 among our staff and just three among our students across four different schools.  I want to commend our staff and students for their vigilance in following the safety guidelines and keeping pandemic contacts to a minimum. These efforts help us keep our schools open and in-person learning available.

It is possible that these numbers could change very quickly and we may be required to implement short term school closures at any time.  Please be sure to report any known cases to the appropriate building principal and follow the social distancing guidelines.  Keep your child home if they may have been exposed to anyone with Covid-19, or if they exhibit any of the Covid-19 symptoms.

Below is the most recent data for community spread for the counties in our school district:

* indicates substantial level of community spread (over 100 cases per 100,000 people)

Please complete this anonymous survey by Friday April 30, 2021.

 2021 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN SURVEY – PARENT/GUARDIAN

Pennsylvania has now entered Phase 2 for vaccinations. All Pennsylvanians 16 and older are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.  KCSD does not require Covid-19 vaccinations for students or staff.  However, if you are interested in local information for your family click here or call 844-UPMCVAC (844-876-2822).  We recommend that all parents and guardians consult with your child’s physician for recommendations regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend,

 Dr. Jacquelyn Martin

Superintendent
