Garbrick solid in first start for USC Spartans
SPARTANBURG, SC – Central Mountain grad Alex Garbrick made a strong debut Saturday for his new college team, Upstate South Carolina. Garbrick went five innings and picked up the win in a 5-1 Spartan victory over Toledo.
Garbrick got the start and struck out 8, walked 2 and gave up one earned in his first appearance with the Spartans.
Garbrick started his college career at Morehead State and graduated from the Kentucky school last May. He later announced he would continue his education and baseball career at the University of South Carolina Upstate.
Garbrick was a standout on the Keystone Little League 2011 World Series team and had an outstanding high school career at Central Mountain.
Garbrick had been drafted by the New York Yankees in the 40th round in the MLB draft in June of 2019 but elected to return to Morehead State last year.
