Joseph A. “Jody” Youngblood – Obituary

Joseph A. “Jody” Youngblood, 58, of Lock Haven passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born February 15, 1962 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Kenneth A. Youngblood and Sharon E. (Swope) Youngblood who survives in Mackeyville.

After graduating from Bald Eagle Nittany High School, Jody began his career with the United States Navy, serving as an Aviation Electronics Technician during the Gulf War.  He retired from the Navy in 2000 after 25 years of service.

Jody was then employed at Shop Vac and later at Unique Paper Industries.

On October 14, 2000, he married his love, the former Laura W. Wright, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.

Jody was a member of the First Church of Christ, Lock Haven.

He was also a member and the current President of RC Flying Club at Buzzard Field as well as a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.  Jody was a past member of Big Twins Motorcycle Club.

When able, Jody enjoyed riding his 1989 Harley Davidson Softail motorcycle as well as kayaking.

Jody was an RC airplane enthusiast, enjoying both building and flying.  He also was interested in Ham radio and 3-D printing.  Jody was even a novice “YouTuber,” having his own chancel.

In addition to his mother and wife, Laura W. Youngblood of Lock Haven, he is survived by his son, Joseph T. “JT” Youngblood of Lock Haven; his brother, Robert (Mary) Youngblood of Mill Hall; his sister, Jennifer (Matthew) Ross of Mackeyville; and his furry friend, Fluffy the cat.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 2 P.M. at Swissdale Cemetery, E. Croak Hollow Rd., Lock Haven, with Pastor Dennis Richey officiating.

Memorial contributions in Jody’s name may be made to RC Flying Club through the funeral home.
