Vesta J. “Nan” Smith – Obituary

RENOVO – Vesta J. “Nan” Smith, 95, 725 Central Ave., Renovo, PA died January 2, 2021 at the UPMC, Lock Haven Hospital. Born October 20, 1925 in Clermont, PA she was the daughter of the late Roy and Faith Church Dunkle. In 1946 she married Charles E. Smith, who died January, 1978. She had been the owner of Smith Lumber Co. from 1947 until her retirement in 2006.

“Nan” enjoyed crocheting, knitting, loved putting together puzzles and camping. She was a member of the Chapman Twp. Vol. Fire Co.

She is survived by one daughter; Barb (Alan Cool) Riddles, North Bend, PA, five grandchildren; Robert Probst, Jr., Chuck (Shelly)Probst, Christine Prebble, Mike (April) Smith and Matt Smith, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren

She was predeceased by one son; Charles (Bo) Smith, one grandson; Kevin James Probst, one sister; Violet Kelley and four brothers; Arlington, Keith, Kenneth and Dale Dunkle.

A funeral service honoring the memory of Vesta J. “Nan” Smith will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 1p.m. in the North Bend United Methodist Church with Martha Sykes officiating. Friends will be received in the church from 12 Noon until time of services.

Interment North Bend Cemetery.
