Approaching Rain Storm Leads to Central PA Weather Service Advisories
STATE COLLEGE, PA – A massive Christmas Eve storm is predicted to bring massive amounts of rain to central Pennsylvania and as a result, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Clinton and Centre counties through noon on Friday and a flood warning for Loyalsock Creek in Lycoming County on Friday.
Rain is predicted to begin around daybreak Thursday over Lock Haven and continue until around 3 a.m. Christmas Day, then turning to rain and snow before ending by 9 a.m. on Christmas Day as much colder air moves in.

…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING… The National Weather Service in State College has expanded the Flood Watch to include a portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following areas, Bedford, Blair, Cameron, Fulton, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Northern Centre, Northern Clinton, Potter, Southern Centre and Southern Clinton. From Thursday morning through Friday morning The combination of heavy rain and melting snow will increase the risk of flooding on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. Significant rises are expected on small streams and rivers. Urban and poor drainage flooding is more probable due to both storm drains that are clogged with piles of snow and to the briefly intense rainfall. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
