Renovo Blessed with Many Food Distributions
In a month’s time there are at least seven opportunities for households in the Renovo Community to receive food bags, boxes etc.
Fresh Express is the First, Thursday of each Month, except for in July and only then is it the second Thursday, due to the 4th of July. Fresh Express starts at 3 p.m. via vehicle and is run by The Salvation Army Renovo Service Unit and the food, like all the other programs in town is provided by The Central Pa Food Bank. Fresh Express is the 1st Thursday @ Salvation Army.
Weis Store Donations happen every Monday at 11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Renovo Service Unit, unless otherwise advertised. They pick up from the Lock Haven and Mill Hall Weis Stores and bring the donated items to the unit. For the most part one can expect breads, pastries and usually some sort of meat.
Some organizations require income guidelines, some do not. The Salvation Army Renovo does require you to fill out paper work on your income; however they will never turn a person away. “If we have it and you want or need it, I will give it to you.” said Robin Davenport. “The more we give, the more God fills our house. We have learned that we cannot out give God.” she added.
The Good Neighbor Center is next to The Salvation Army and originally was the only organization that handed out food to the community for many years. It is located on St. Clair and hands out food the 3rd Thursday of each month starting at 9:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m.
If you have never signed up you must bring a photo I.D. and fill out some forms. The Good Neighbor Center is run by the Council of Churches.
The Good Love Center based in Jersey Shore provides a Pop Up Pantry in Renovo every 3rd Friday of the month at the Renovo fire Department. Cars line up and they load your stuff, you do not need to get out of the car. Pop Up Pantry is planning a special box in December.
