Softball concludes 2025 regular season with PSAC East twinbill at Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG – The Lock Haven softball team traveled to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division foe Shippensburg for its final contest of the season on Friday afternoon.
Lock Haven finishes the season 15-27 overall and 9-23 in the PSAC East. Shippensburg moved to 29-17 on the year and 18-12 in the conference.
Game 1 Recap: Shippensburg 2, Lock Haven 1
Game one featured a pitcher’s duel as Lock Haven starter Keri Wesneski went 7.1 innings and allowed just two runs, while striking out one.
Lock Haven took the first lead of the day after six-straight shutout innings when Madison Hardy drove in Madison Melius with an RBI-single.
However, Shippensburg knotted the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh before hitting a walk-off single in the eighth to steal the victory.
Five different Bald Eagle hitters recorded a hit, while Hardy picked up the lone RBI.
Game 2 Recap: Shippensburg 5, Lock Haven 1
In game two, Shippensburg carried over the momentum from the opener and scored three runs over the first two innings before adding solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Lock Haven scored its lone run in the top of the seventh, but Ship held on to complete the sweep with a 5-1 victory.
Blaire Balestrini, Bella Schmitt and Melius recorded hits, while Schmitt drove in the lone Lock Haven run.
Balestrini finished her freshman season with 11 homers and 55 hits, ranking tied for second and tied for seventh in the PSAC, respectively.
Friday’s action concludes the 2025 season for The Haven.
