Gas Price Drops below $2 in Parts of Clinton County
DUNNSTOWN – What a difference a year makes. In April of 2019 therecord-online had a story that a gallon of gas locally had topped $3 for the first time since 2014.
But this Sunday, April 5 of 2020, the price of a gallon at several Clinton County gas pumps had fallen below $2. The drop in local prices is in line with the national trend. AAA reported earlier this week that the national average had dropped to $1.95.
AAA said, “Oil prices have decreased significantly in response to the increasing public health, financial and economic impact of COVID-19.”
According to the federal Energy Information Administration, demand has not been this low since 1993 and “As more Americans practice social distancing, gas demand is likely to continue decreasing and push pump prices cheaper.”
