New School Year Begins at LHU
LOCK HAVEN – It was almost fall-like for the beginning of the school year at Lock Haven University Monday morning. Students returned to campus last week and classes began Monday.
The Founder’s Day Convocation ceremony was held on Sunday and a countdown to the new year followed in front of Price Auditorium.
A number of events are scheduled for the first week:
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, there will be a HAC Hump Day program, “Welcome Back,” with food, music, lawn games and the Funky Freezer on the Poorman Commons.
From 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, students, faculty, staff and the Lock Haven community are invited to a concert with LHU President Robert Pignatello at Triangle Park downtown. Pignatello will perform easy listening and classic rock music, as part of the city’s Summer Concert Series.
At 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, the Haven Activities Council (HAC) will present the big screen movie, “Avengers Endgame” in Price Auditorium.
Next week, the LHU Academic Majors Fair will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 in the Parsons Union Building (PUB) multipurpose room. Faculty and upper level students from all majors and minors will be on hand to share information and answer questions. Students will be able to choose or change a major and add minors during the event. Light refreshments and door prizes will be available.
