BEECH CREEK – The decision has been made. The Pennsylvania Champion Keystone 9-11 team will be participating in the Mid-Atlantic/New England Championships in Beverly, MA, beginning Tuesday, July 30.

The Keystone team qualified for the trip to eastern Massachusetts with its 10-0 win over South Middleton in the Pennsylvania championship game Friday night. Saturday brought word that Keystone will be advancing to the invitational tourney featuring state champs from 10 Mid-Atlantic and New England states.

Keystone will open play next Tuesday, July 30, a 7 p.m. game against the New Jersey state champion. Pool play will continue through Saturday, Aug. 3 and the two pool winners will play for the championship Sunday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. The tourney will be the final one for Keystone as there is no further advancement for the event’s ultimate champion.

Keystone Little League officials on Saturday posted an appeal for financial support to help underwrite the trip to New England:

“It has been a huge accomplishment for these players, and we are so proud of them! The families and players have been on the road throughout July, staying in hotels since Sectionals on July 11th. The boys, coaches, and parents have put in an unbelievable amount of time, work, and resources into getting them this far, and we are asking for any help—big or small—to help get these boys to Massachusetts as they represent our community, District 12, Section 3, and the great state of PA! Thank you in advance for your support—the boys greatly appreciate it!”

Keystone Little League has established a “GoFundMe”  to assist in its fundraising efforts found here: 9-11 Regionals / post season expenses

The team, coaches and families will also be working a fund raising effort at the Mill Hall Walmart on Hogan Blvd. on Sunday, July 28 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
