Fly, Amelia, Fly: CM Junior Sets New High Jump Mark
LOCK HAVEN – Central Mountain junior Amelia McCloy set a new personal and school high jump mark on Saturday, clearing 5-feet-7 inches in winning her specialty at Lock Haven University’s annual track and field classic.
McCloy, a state place-winner as a sophomore a year ago, bested two other state place-winners to capture the high jump crown at LHU’s Jack Stadium. Her 5-7 jump was a personal best and the fourth time she has topped her personal best. Her previous best was 5-6 at last year’s Heartland Conference meet; her top mark this season, until Saturday, was 5-5.
McCloy led the Lady Wildcat entries to 18th place in a 32-team field. Place winners included high jump teammate Autumn Tate, tied for fourth with a jump of 4-11; Sarah Probst, fourth in the discus at 103-10; and Ashley Rich, seventh in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.39.
The Central Mountain boys had two place finishers at they finished in 23rd place: Corbin Green, sixth in the 1600 meters at 4:33.24, and Caleb Porter, a tie for sixth in the high jump at 5-7.
