Fatal Accident at Nicholas Meats in Sugar Valley

LOGANTON – State police are terming the Tuesday death of a Northumberland County man a “sudden death/accidental” incident at the Nicholas Meats operation along East Valley Road in Greene Township, east of Loganton.

Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna said the victim in the accident was a 32-year-old male from Sunbury. He said his office is attempting to confirm the identity of the man.

The state police report said the victim was struck by a piece of equipment. The coroner said the incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on an exit ramp from the Nicholas company basement. The victim was struck by a large forklift operated by another individual, he said. Hanna listed cause of death as head trauma. Police said their investigation is continuing.
