Lock Haven City Council Honors LHU Wrestling Team
LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven City Council took a moment during its Monday night meeting to honor the championship Lock Haven University wrestling team.
Council unanimously approved a resolution of congratulations to the Bald Eagle team. Present for the presentation were head coach Scott Moore, assistant coach Nate Carr Jr. and the team’s three Eastern Wrestling League champs, Ronnie Perry, Alex Klucker and Corey Hazel.
The team won the EWL team title in March, the school’s first since 1997. Perry went on to finish as an NCAA runner-up and teammate Chance Marsteller finished fourth.
Monday’s meeting also saw council observe a moment for silence and prayers in memory of the late Jonathan Bravard, a council member who passed away in April.
Council agreed to accept applications for his replacement through Friday, May 18. Those who apply are to attend the next council meeting, Monday, May 21, for interviews.
Mayor Bill Baney offered that council might consider appointing Bill Mincer, a council candidate who lost in the last municipal election by, as Baney said, by a handful of votes. He asked if the city could seat Mincer without going through the application/interview process. But council members Steve Stevenson and Joel Long countered that there could be others with an interest in serving, so the long-standing replacement process will occur.
