Six LHU Wrestlers Set for NCAA Tourney


CLEVELAND – Six Lock Haven University wrestlers will begin their quest for national honors at noon today at the 2018 NCAA Divison I wrestling championships at the Quicken Loans Arena.

The Bald Eagles are coming off a 2018 Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) title. The six NCAA qualifiers mark the most in 13 years as LHU last sent six to the national tournament in 2005.

LHU’s first-round bouts:
141: Kyle Shoop (34-12) vs. Vincent Turk (Iowa, 13-8) — *pigtail match
149: No. 15 seed Ronnie Perry (28-3) vs. Cortlandt Schuyler (Lehigh, 12-10)
157: Alex Klucker (25-9) vs. No. 15 seed John Van Brill (Rutgers, 20-10)
165: No. 9 seed Chance Marsteller (39-2) vs. Bryce Martin (Indiana, 15-8)
184: Corey Hazel (23-8) vs. No. 12 seed Bryce Carr (Chattanooga, 26-5)
285: No. 15 seed Thomas Haines (18-5) vs. Conan Jennings (Northwestern, 25-10)

The tourney will continue through the 8 p.m. Saturday finals. LHU wrestler showings will be updated throughout the three days on therecord-online.
