Bald Eagle Men Pick Up Road Victory
GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (2-3, 1-1 PSAC) saw four players score double figure points as the Bald Eagles defeated Seton Hill University (2-3, 1-1 PSAC) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Sunday afternoon clash, 68-63.
The Bald Eagles and the Griffins were locked up in a tight battle throughout the first half as Seton Hill took the 36-35 advantage after 20 minutes of play.
It continued to be a close matchup in the second half as LHU took the lead early in the half after a Ra’eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) layup. Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) came up with some clutch rebounds late in the game to seal the victory.
Hunt, Barnes, Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) and Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) all paved the way on the offensive end scoring double-digits in points. Hunt led the way for Lock Haven as he recorded 17 points and five rebounds.
Barnes and Hinton both hauled in a team high seven rebounds while Barnes added 16 points and Hinton chipped in with 11 points and four steals.
Cerruti, a true freshman continued his strong start to the season with 10 points in 24 minutes of action.
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) also played a well-rounded game as he finished with seven points and six rebounds.
The Haven forced 17 turnovers and turned them into 22 points while only turning the ball over four times.
The Bald Eagles will make their long awaited home debut on Saturday, Dec. 1 when they are set to host Slippery Rock at 3 p.m.
