LOCK HAVEN – A Renovo man and his female companion have entered guilty pleas relative to the theft of more than $51,000 from two bank accounts belonging to FAST, the Firemans Ambulance Service Team serving western Clinton County.

Gary Cummings, 38, and Pennie Lynn Bodley, 28, described by state police as his girlfriend, were arrested last fall and charged with theft and related counts.

Cummings was set for sentencing May 19 after his plea in Clinton County Court last week; Bodley likewise entered a guilty plea and her sentencing was set for June 9.

Both remain in the Clinton County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail.

The arrests last October ended a 15-month law enforcement investigation into the disappearance of FAST funds, a period which saw western Clinton County residents aware of the probe and awaiting its outcome.

The case was handled by state police trooper Matt Maggs and Drew Koser, a special investigator with the Department of State dealing with charitable services.

Maggs said the probe involved money missing from FAST accounts with Jersey Shore State Bank and M & T Bank.

The Maggs report said the investigation came to his attention after another member of FAST opened a bank statement and discovered there was less than $2 in the account.

Police say Cummings was president of FAST during the period from January 2007 to May of 2012. They alleged at the time of the arrests that he and Bodley used the two accounts as their personal bank accounts.

Their findings said the twosome used $13,815.30 at WalMart and used $28,243.80 for cash from various ATM machines without permission.

Additionally, the police report said, Cummings wrote checks for personal use from M & T Bank and Jersey Shore State Bank totaling $3,766.10 and Bodley used $9,865.55 from the M & T account from various stores and online purchase for personal use without permission.

Police put the total loss from FAST at $51,924.95.

Charges against the two included three counts of theft against Cummings and two counts against Bodley; both are charged with receiving stolen property.
