Seven Lady Bucks grab Mid Penn honors

FARWELL- Bucktail softball accolades continued over the weekend. On Sunday seven Lady Bucks were named to the Mid Penn Conference all-star team. Only Montgomery garnered more with eight selections.
Lola English, Eva Sockman, Alexis Lowery, Matti Mason and Mak Wagner earned first team honors. Kendall Wagner and Gigi Balchun were selected to the second team.
English, Bucktail’s sophomore at second base batted .524 with 3 home runs on the season. Sockman anchored third base, while scorching defenders with a .585 average and also blasting three home runs.
The Lady Bucks’ home run leader and .549 hitter Mak Wagner actually earned first team honors for her work in the circle as a first team pitcher. Wagner’s excellent season would see her join Division I signee Nolah Moyer from Muncy as a first team selection.
Mason joined good company at catcher on the first team. Mason batted .415 with a home run. She joined another outstanding catcher in Taylor Shannon of Muncy on the first team.
Senior Alexis Lowery held down an inexperienced Bucktail outfield in 2024. Lowery batted .343 with a home run and 11 runs batted in. Her 1.000 fielding percentage was among the team leaders in that department.
Kendall Wagner was a force at first base for Bucktail. Wagner would hit .477 on the season and showed her power with a home run, 7 doubles and 17 runs batted in.
Balchun, a senior first year varsity player became a critical and crucial weapon in head coach Mike Poorman’s dangerous offense. Balchun would bat .341 with 15 runs batted in.
Muncy’s Nolah Moyer was named Mid Penn Conference MVP, while her coach Craig Weaver was named the conference’s top coach. Muncy won the Mid Penn title for the second season in a row with an undefeated effort within conference play.
As for the Lady Bucks, they will now await the winner of the Montgomery vs. Sullivan County game on Tuesday. Bucktail’s championship game is set for Thursday at 4:30 at Elm Park in Williamsport.
